Land's End to John O'Groats (by Unicycle)

The Plan

I'm unicycling from Land's End to John O'Groats, to raise money for two amazing charities. I'm doing this solo and unsupported, and aiming to complete the route in two and a half weeks.

Why am I doing this? It's admittedly a slightly mad idea, but after a few challenging years of youth work in Luton, Rebecca and I are now having a relatively comfortable life training in Durham, and are keen to keep giving while we're here. I'm riding for two great causes - check out the fundraising page for more info, and to donate!

Where am I?

I'm at John O'Groats!

Stats:*

*This is for all the riding I've done: after making it from Land's End to Stratford over the first five days, I was sadly forced to temporarily abandon the ride partway through day 6, due to injury, missing the ~200 miles between Coventry and Durham. After a couple of additional days recovering in Durham, I'm now hoping to complete the remainder of the ride from Durham to John O'Groats.

Training

I haven't done a ride that's even close to this magnitude since 2011. In 2016, I had my first (and only) serious unicycling accident, as the geared hub on my unicycle broke while I was riding, throwing me off and landing me in hospital with a torn ACL. It took a couple of years to recover and rebuild my confidence, and I hadn't done any significant distance rides since then until I started training for this a few months ago.

Over the last few months, I've spent a lot of time out on the road, in weather from heatwaves to storms, building up my fitness. There are some numbers below for those who are interested - but in short, I'm feeling ready.
